Luke 11: 9-10

GENERAL STATEMENT:

Members of the Intercessory Ministry are committed disciples who have actively served in the Service Ministry, as well as covenanted disciples.

ORGANIZATION:

The ministry is composed of a Pastoral Head (DCS - Formation) who oversees the programs and activities of its membership, a Ministry Coordinator (DLC) who implements the programs and activities, circle shepherds who lead the membership in Word Sharing Sessions and attend to the pastoral needs, and the general membership consisting of covenanted disciples, committed disciples and committed members.

ACTIVITIES:

Intercessory Ministry meetings are scheduled every Monday evening, except the first Monday of the month, and include the following activities: opening prayer, intercession, reading of the Word, then Word Sharing session.

Word Sharing sessions are held during Intercessory Ministry meetings, except the last Monday of the month when the following activities take place: fellowship, teachings (if any), business meeting.

All members of the ministry shall take turns as prayer leaders, intercessors, and catchers and ushers during healing services.

All members are encouraged to serve as intercessors in the vigil room during encounter weekends and Life in the Spirit Seminars.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To collect all contents of the petition box during each prayer meeting, collate the petitions, lift them up in the Intercessory prayers, and burn them thereafter.
  • To keep custody of the petition box.
  • To lead the recitation of the Holy Rosary before the start of corporate worship.
  • To assist the sponsoring class in the vigil room activities during encounters (ME, FE, YE, SE, SPE).

PRAYER REQUESTS:

Specific prayer requests (e.g., for physical healing, for the repose of a soul, and other intentions) may be sent by e-mail to:

or to any member of the Intercessory Ministry. These prayer requests are then received by the DLC. Senders are encouraged to provide details as to the person(s) being prayed for and to include a short prayer. If a prayer is not included in the request, the Intercessory Ministry may compose a short prayer. Unless requested otherwise, prayer requests are then broadcasted to the Toronto District and DIPs via e-mail from the BLD Mailroom. The sender may also request the name of the person being prayed for to be omitted. Such requests are accommodated, if specified. In cases where the sender specifies not to broadcast the prayer request to the Community, the prayer request is sent only to the members of the Intercessory Ministry.

A list of petitions for the sick, the recently deceased, special intentions and forthcoming Community activities is sent by the Intercessory Ministry to the corporate prayer leaders each week, to be included in the intercession portion of the corporate worship at the discretion of the corporate prayer leaders. The same list is also given to the sponsors of the First Friday Mass, to be included in the Prayers of the Faithful, if possible. Generally, only members of the Community and their immediate relatives are to be included in this list.

CLEANSING PRAYER

Oh loving Father, as intercessors, we have taken upon us the grief of your people, but we know that you do not want these burdens and grief to remain in us. Wash us clean of all these burdens with the Blood of the Lamb. Lighten our hearts and fill us with your peace, love and joy.

Almighty Father, we ask now for you to wash with the Holy Blood of Jesus and to cleanse us from any unclean spirit that might have clung to us as intercessors. In Jesus’ name, we bind them all at foot of your cross until you, Lord Jesus, deal with them as you wish.Amen.
