Marriage Encounter # 42
Written by Administrator

Most of our marriages began “perfect”: the perfect ceremony; the perfect day; the perfect dress; the perfect reception. But then, as time passed, something happened to that perfection.

Life got in the way. The competing pressures of family and work. The added responsibilities of children and perhaps of aging parents. The stress and uncertainty of changing careers, changing cities or moving to a new country.

When times are difficult, we frequently don’t take the time that we need for each other in our marriage, and our marriage can suffer because of it. Like the photographs of that perfect day, our marriage can grow brittle and fade if we don’t care for it. And even when we do find ourselves in a strong and faithful relationship, we also deserve to rediscover some of the warmth and excitement of the days when we began our lives together.

The BLD Marriage Encounter Weekend is your opportunity to rediscover the joy in your marriage. It is a carefully conducted process which places God at the centre of your married lives, and gives you powerful tools to use in communicating – with each other, within yourselves, and with our Lord Jesus Christ.

ME No. 35- A SUCCESS
Written by Marriage & Family Life Apostolate

The recently concluded ME No. 35 held at the Mount Mary Immaculate Retreat Centre in Ancaster last September 13-15 was a complete success. Indeed, what an awesome God we have for He gave us 27 lovely couples in this encounter:

Aquilino and Maria Fe Agustin,  Eric and Glenda Alhambra, Carlito and Arceli Almeida,  Alex and Aireen Arce, Peter and Linda Barnas,  Merlo and Ellen Binoya,  Arnold and Fe Castillo, Reynald and Roselie Cavida,  Keith D'Souza and Neela Saldanha, Bernardo and Theresa De Pedro, Nathaniel and Maria De Vera, Deroy and Wendy Destang, Bernard and Boadita Gomes, Nichol Gotera and Gina dela Cruz, Jeoffrey and Maria Theresa Jose, Manuel and Epigenia Mercado, Velarde and Rica Meriel, Leonardo and Emily Nery, Douglas and Delia Neville, Arthur and Priscilla Ortiz, Isidoro and Manolita Pagulayan, Arnel and Josielyn Salazar, Francis and Rhodelia Tapia, Jay and Judie Tinamisan, Luvino and Fidela Uy, Emmanuel and Faustina Valencia, Nestor and Imelda Vilela.

Manny and Letty Buado were assigned to shepherd this class.

It was a site to see having this so many couples in one weekend for it’s been a while since we witnessed the ME to be this vibrant and teeming with candidates. From the looks of the candidates’ faces, it can be gauged that they were truly inspired and are raring to make their marriage work to the fullest and become the best ever.

The Pastoral Team of Pat/Rose Canlas, Joey/Susan Linsao, and Fr. Dominik Mbah struck a chord among the participants whom some have remarked: I was so inspired from the sharing of the presentors that I can relate from their experience”. Their sharing(s) were so powerful and meaningful that it moved me to tears”. Another participant commented: “I felt a new sense of purpose in my life”.

Some members of our community commented: “I’ve witnessed a new beginning for a momentous event such as the Marriage Encounter and it has been a while since an excitement was generated by the ME”. Another stated: “It’s very encouraging to see the happiness in the ME 35 graduates’ faces. It looked like they have been refreshed in their married lives”. Another commented that “we must have been doing it right that is why there were so many candidates who participated in the ME”. Still another said: “I am now motivated to do more in the next ME”.

There were close to 200 people at the conference room on the Sunday of the ME.  ME graduates (“old and new”) mingled together in celebrating the resurgence of energy from the community. Spotted in the conference rooms are some family members including children of some of the participants- who were overjoyed in seeing their loved ones in attendance to bear witness to their “new found” happiness in their married life.

The ME Class No. 34 headed by their Shepherd Couple (Benny and Nini Flores) did a superb job in sponsoring this ME 35 Weekend. Kudos as well to the powerhouse team of Rev.Fr. Dominik Mbah, Pat-Rose Canlas and Joey-Susan Linsao for the powerful delivery of their talks and sharings that truly touched the hearts of the candidates; the ME-Coordinator Lito and Arlene Martin for their valuable support and tireless recruitment drive; and the Musical Director, Gus and Nila Soriano, with instrumentalist Nestor Naluz, for their musical accompaniment which intensified the candidates' emotions into positive reverential reaction towards the Almighty God.

The success of the spiritual retreat would not have been made possible without the assistance of our brothers and sisters in the community. To the auxiliaries from Intercessory, Liturgy, Service and Praise Ministries, our sincere gratitude and appreciation for your prayers, time, talent and kind hearted support during the weekend.

The ME 34 sponsoring class with gratitude in their hearts thank the DSL, DCS, DLCs, Sponsors, Donors/Benefactors and ALL the members of the BLD covenant community for their prayers coupled with their active and effective involvement in the recruitment of candidates leading up to  the ME weekend. We are truly one BODY OF CHRIST!

"For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another."  Romans 12:4-5

ME Class # 33: A Blessed Success
Written by MFLA

From the MFLA

Brothers and sisters, let us once again welcome the graduates of ME Class #33 headed by their Class Shepherds, Ed and Cristy Samson.  Let us give thanks to Our Lord for giving these thirteen couples memories which will last a lifetime.  (May we call on the Class of ME #33 to stand and be recognized)

Let us also give thanks to Fr. Tito, Pat and Rose Canlas and Lito & Arlene Martin for their powerful  teachings and sharings.  (May we call on these 2 couples to please stand?)

The successful ME weekend was made possible by the united and humble services of the sponsoring class of ME #32,  led graciously and lovingly by their shepherd couple, Gie & Beth Santulan.  Their hard work and perseverance made this priceless weekend possible. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the various ministries, sponsors, auxies and those who offered love offerings in cash and kind and to the whole BLD community for their love, support  and prayers.

Most of all, we give thanks to our Almighty God for calling these 13 couples to experience his embracing love and mercy.  The lives of these couples will never be the same.

Brothers and sisters, let us all welcome them together with their Class Shepherd Couple, Ed and Cristy Samson!

Thank you

(a ministry of the Evangelization Apostolate)

“… You shall love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself. …” (Matt 22: 34-40)

“… Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude,
it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not
rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all
things, endures all things….” (1 Cor 13:1-13)
